There is always someone ready to lump all video games into the category of “brain-numbing mush,” but some designers have found that gaming can explore events that are fast fading from our collective memory. With the help of historians, documentary film-makers, and real veterans; some video games are working to entertain and educate about WWII. This article reviews some popular and new history-based games from the point of view of historians eager to expose a new generation to the events of the past.
