Move Over, Overdrive... Libby's Got New Features!

Support for the popular reading application OverDrive ended in February and was removed from app stores. To continue accessing eBooks and Audiobooks on your devices without interruption, you will need to download the Libby app. You can download Libby, by OverDrive at the App Store or Google Play. If using a laptop or PC, start here.

For a Limited Time: Extra Features Available in the Libby App

Thanks to ARPA funding, the Montana State Library is offering Great Courses, Test Prep services and Universal Class. They can be found by scrolling down the home screen of the Libby app to the “Extras” Section. These features are available for the next 12 months with the Libby app.

Take that, Censorship!

In a major win for free speech and young people nationwide, the Brooklyn Public Library is offering FREE electronic access to recently banned books that might not otherwise be available for teens and young adults regardless of where they live. With the recent spate of book bans extending from public schools to public libraries, the Brooklyn Public Library is waiving fees and offering FREE eCards to young people across the nation, providing access to 350,000 eBooks, 200,000 audiobooks, and 100,000 databases.

According to the article published in The Hill:

To receive the card, teenagers need to send an email to BooksUnbanned@bklynlibrary.org or send a message to the library’s Instagram account @bklynfuture and share an essay, story or video on the importance of intellectual freedom and the impact that a book ban or challenge has had on their life.
