Understanding how race has impacted our built environment

Samantha Daly, writing for Dwell, has compiled a list of books that explore how race has impacted more than how we treat each other. Race has also influenced how we have constructed our buildings, cities, and infrastructure. Our current built environment reflects these tensions more than we might realize. To explore this topic more, see her article, 7 Books you Need to Read on the Intersection of Race and Architecture in America.

All books are not worth the read!

Have you ever felt guilty about not finishing a book? Don’t! Not every book is for everyone and why read on if you are not into the book. Although I (Michelle) mostly listen to books, my personal philosophy is if I’m not engrossed by the end of chapter 3, it’s not worth my time. Follow the link to find out other readers “rules” for not finishing a book. It is OK to be part of the DNF club.

Attention Crafty Patrons--We Need Your Help!

Are you savvy with sewing? Do you have needle know-how? Your Ronan Library District needs face masks! To help slow the spread of COVID-19, we are requiring patrons to wear face masks when using our library. If you have the talent and time, we want you to join others to make face masks that we can provide patrons visiting the library who need them. We can even provide the cloth if you need it! If you need some advice on mask construction, please review the CDC guidance on making face masks. We will gratefully accept any face mask donations during our current business hours, Tues.-Fri., 10-2. We thank you in advance for helping keep our library and services accessible to the entire community!
