This article in the Washington Post describes a popular program that boosts young readers’ confidence and reading proficiency while reducing quarantine boredom and anxiety. Children reading to therapy animals! While families in our community may not be able to participate in this specific program—studies show that reading to the family pet can have the same benefits. So, there you go. Have the kids pull out their favorite books and have them practice with Fido. They will both benefit from the effort!
